Happy Birthday Zander

Saturday we celebrated Zanders 7th birthday. His Birthday is actually the 5th of June but that's the last day of school so we had his party a week early.

We always get good pictures on the water slide. My favorites are when the kids first get to the top. Every kid is shocked by the coldness of the water when they get to the top of the slide the first time. I also like the panicked look on their faces when they get to the bottom. They are all afraid that they're gonna hit the ground really hard. Even the kids who play on the slide every summer are still afraid they're gonna go splat at the bottom.

Briena

I just want to brag about one of the kids I babysit. She is the best child I have ever watched. I can't beleive they pay me to watch her. She hardly ever gets in trouble and she does everything I ask her to do. About a year ago I asked her to get me a diaper so that I can change one of the babies and she said she wanted to learn how to change diapers so I showed her. Ever since then she has been changing diapers. It started out as just wet diapers and then at the beginning of the school year she said she wanted to try a dirty diaper so I let her. Every day she comes home from school and asks if the babies have been changed yet. Sometimes I go two or three days without changing stinky diapers because the babies are two now and only make stinky once in the afternoon. It is so nice. She also loves to do house work. Whenever I am doing house work she always wants to help. The other day I was getting ready to clean the bathroom when Briena asked if she could do it for me. I showed her how do everything except scrub the toilet and she did a really good job for a kid. The next day I asked her to go get the bucket of bathroom cleaning supplies from one of the upstairs bathrooms. She asked why since she had just cleaned the bathrooms the day before and I told her that I had to scrub the toilets. She wanted to know why I didn't let her scrub the toilets and wanted to try it. I showed her how in the downstairs bathroom and the she did the two upstairs bathrooms. She liked it so much that she wants bathrooms to be her regular chore during clean up time. No more diapers or toilets for me YEAH!! Besides the colorful language and attitude that she has introduced Sarah to this girl has brought real joy into my life.

We fell asleep

For our anniversary we had planned on laying around the house in our PJ's and watching movies all day but when we laid down we fell asleep. We slept through most of the day and missed all the movies we wanted to watch. We were a little bummed so we recruited my mom to babysit so we could go out to dinner and see a movie. It was already after bedtime, but the kids still wanted to try to wait up for us. They didn't make it.

Tanner can't sleep unless he is in his bed. Whenever he gets tired he just goes to bed. No mater what's going on he has to sleep in his bed. Sometimes When Oscar is out of town the kids sleep in my bed and after all the other kids fall asleep Tanner will ask if it's okay to go to his bed.

Brendan and Zander fell asleep watching movies. On the weekends wherever Brendan sleeps Zander sleeps.

Sarah held out the longest. She was waiting to go home with Bobo but she crashed just before we got home.

Happy Anniversary My Love

To celebrate we will be spending the day laying around the house in our PJ's watching movies. We never get to just hang out and do nothing, so that's what were doing.

Pizza

My limit for dinner is twelve so if there is more than twelve kids in my house at dinner time then they get pizza for dinner. None of the kids wanted to eat it and when I brought out the cinnamon rolls they complained because I haven't gone to the store to buy fruit yet so they were stuck with cinnamon rolls. I swear there is something wrong with these children but that's okay, more for me!

Oh, in case you were wandering all of the kids fit around the picnic table that I made Monday and we could have fit two or three more if we needed to.

Todays Projects

I needed something to contain all of my gardening tool and supplies but I didn't like any of the gardening benches or storage cabinets that I found at any of the stores. And they were very expensive so I decided to make my own.

I used the wood that came from the old chicken coupe. It took for ever to make, almost four hours. The picnic table only took two.

I also put in the doggy door but I don't like the way it fits wit the sliding door so I'm gonna make some modifications.

Tomorrows project will be cleaning the garage.

Packaging

When ever I assemble something I always complain about the packaging. There is always more packaging than needed. Not only is it wasteful but it's a big mess. Today after assembling the swing I spent the rest of the day working outside so I didn't get around to taking out the swing trash until the kids came home from school. I tried to recruit the kids in a quick clean up but the had other ideas. Here is the packaging plastic fashion show.

After the plastic was worn out they discovered the box. They were having so much fun we just had to hunt down more boxes around the house to make clubhouses as well.

I get a little bored in the morning waiting for the extra kids to get here so I have started doing projects around the house.

Today I Put together a yard swing and then planted grapevines.

Yesterday I built a picnic table and made blocks for the kids out of the scraps from the new deck. I also made a toy box from some old wood. Tomorrows project is going to be some sort of cabinet to contain yard and garden tools and maybe a doggie door.

This is the deck my husband built yesterday and the day before.

Thursday us Girls went to get our toes done to celebrate some May birthdays.
(sorry Sharla and Donelle your picture came out as a blur)

Cindy could not sit still. She squirmed and giggled the whole time.

I don' usually get color on my toes and I don't think I will again, it's to attractive to the puppy. She won't quit chasing my toes.

Lexi

Saturday in the car a song came on the radio that reminded Zander about the death of the puppy a few weeks ago. He started sobbing uncontrollably. He was upset that his dog had died and Dad wasn't even here. We felt so bad for him and Oscar felt worse than I did because he was here to comfort him when it happened. Today Oscar had to run out to the store and there was a family giving away puppies on the side of the road so to ease his guilt and to ease Zanders pain he surprised us with Lexi.

She is tiny and cute and still has puppy breath. She loves to play and hates to be left alone. She has already figured out that I don't like puddles on the carpet because when she puddles she runs and hides. She is afraid of the carpet shampooer and the dryer. She is a cute little puff ball.

Look what I made

When Oscar leaves for long periods of time I get a little stir crazy so I have to do projects to keep me from going completely nuts. While he was in California I built a jungle gym.

Around midnight on the second night he was gone I started laying out the pieces and by the time the kids got home from school they were all labeled and ready for assembly.

The next night when I couldn't sleep I started building it in sections that would fit out the back door.

After that I just had to build the tower and start attaching pre built sections.

It took longer than I wanted because it kept raining on me but I eventually got it done.

The roosters dinner!

Oscar was to chicken to do it so the elders came by last night to take care of it. Elder Samani dispatched the chicken for us. The elders brought another set of missionaries with them and Brother Williams came to watch as well.

Oscar skinned and plucked the rooster and I butchered it.
He was a skinny little booger. There was hardly any meat on him and no fat at all. Before he was plucked and skinned he looked very fat and healthy but I guess it was all feathers.
In the end we had we were only able to get the breasts, the thighs, and the legs. The rest was to scrawny to do anything with.
I actually missed the whole thing because I was helping parent gather their kids. Tanner hid in the house during the action and Brendan stayed in the clubhouse. Sarah and Zander took advantage of the preoccupied parents and played in the mud.

I have Peaches!!

I don't know why this is so exciting to me because I don't even like peaches. I only grow them for my husband and because they have really pretty flowers in the spring.

How'd they do that?

Someone has manged to color on the ceiling in the entry way. We can't figure out how but the older kids have made suggestion. Tanner thinks that someone threw a crayon up to the ceiling in the same spot over and over again. If that were so then there would be little crayon marks everywhere so I don't think that was it. Sarah thinks they got a stool from the kitchen and used it to reach the ceiling. Even with a stool I still don't think they are tall enough. Cheyanna thinks they climbed up on the railing of the stairs and reached over to color the ceiling. I think hers is the most convincing because she climbed up there to show me were they would put their feet and how to hold on but the little ones aren't tall enough or coordinated enough for that. I know that it was done by the little ones while the big ones were at school but I can not for the life of me figure out how they did it.

Brendans Concert

Brendan had a concert for band last night. He said he did good and only made a couple of mistakes and he wasn't even nervous. They whole group did very well. We didn't get any pictures of him playing because they put him behind taller kids and we couldn't even see him.

This is Brendan and a few of his friends standing around after the concert. You can barely even see his head over the music stands. It was a good concert and the kids had a lot of fun. I'm a little sad that we didn't get a video because my camera refuses to stay charged.

Well, he isn't dead

Today one of the older kids who didn't have school was asking about the rooster. He was curious because he never hears him crow anymore. I explained that we had to move him into the garage because of the neighbor. He went to the garage and said he couldn't find him. I explained the he was under a rug behind a big box and sent him with some food and water for the roo. He came back a few minutes later and said Oreo wasn't moving or making any noise. I climbed down from the swing set and went to go check on Oreo. He wasn't moving or making any noise. Normally when we turn on the lights he starts crowing, but he didn't even crow when we shook the cage. I swear that thing was dead. When Tanner came home he was very upset that I let his rooster die (he thinks the rooster and all the chickens are his). When I asked him to take out the trash he decided to see the rooster one last time. When he pulled back the rugs that darn rooster started crowing. I guess he was just playing dead or maybe he was a little over heated with the rugs covering his cage. He was still crowing and trying to peck me when I open the cage to check his water a few minutes ago so I think he's gonna live for a few more days.

FINALLY!!

Zander lost his first tooth. It took forever and we didn't think it would ever happen.
He'll be seven in a few weeks so it was about darn time!

While he was washing his tooth it dropped down the drain. He was very upset because he really lost his first lost tooth. When I explained to him he would still get his $1 even without the tooth some of the extra kids were a little curious. Cheyanna and Brienna asked how the tooth fairy would come if he didn't put a tooth under the pillow. I told them we don't have a tooth fairy. They were very confused and then asked well were does the money come from and what happens to the teeth? I told them their parents would have to explain that and sent two confused kids to the backyard to figure things out. I broke the extra kids, sorry Marla and Shana.
